iPad 10.5 touchscreen unresponsive

i have researched this issue to death and have not seen a response from Apple other than a link to a page about resolving screen issues on which none of the solutions work. I am on my third replacement iPad with the exact same issue. A hard reset does not help. Turning off multitasking does not help. Turning off Bluetooth does not help. I don't have Apple pencil so it's not that. I have backed up and factory reset the iPad which does not work. I have turned off background app refresh and that does not help. The problem gets worse with each iOS update and it appears to be a software problem as it stalls and freezes for a half second or less every 3 seconds or so, and when it "unstalls" it makes a bunch of quick clicks for every keystroke it misses when I type, yet it doesnt display the letters I miss when typing. It has cost me time to reset, get new iPads, the games I have spent money on I cannot even play effectively and some of the games that penalize you for poor performance I have lost my standing and unwilling to play any longer until this issue is fixed or I will continue to tank my progress in the game even further. Other people have brought up the same problem and apple has responded only with the link that tells you how to hard reset the iPad, which actually works for a short period of time before returning to the rather persistent intermittent unresponsiveness from the touchscreen. I am at my wits end with this piece of crap that is rendered unusable with such a touchscreen problem.

I’ve had iPad 10.5 pro 512 GB Wi-Fi cellular for over a year now. I don’t use it for games or any applications demanding high processing. Just for reading articles from websites like New York Times and watching video news like Bloomberg TV for example. Up to approximately June 2018 I have been very happy with the performance. I have not had a single issue. Multitasking was working perfectly. Browsing the web with multiple tabs open, having Twitter window open and a video in a separate window was a normal daily experience. Pure pleasure to use. Then since June 2018 it has started gradually to be less responsive to the touch, freezing for one or two seconds. After restarting (home and power button) it works as it used to be but soon it goes back to those periods of reduced responsiveness. This issue also demonstrates itself in abandoning commands initiated by the user, for example when you swipe your finger from the bottom of the screen up to open the ‘switch between apps‘ mode it quits halfway. It appears to be in my opinion OS update related.

I am under warranty with Asurion. They have replaced my device twice already for the touch screen issue and they told me they will not replace it another time for an issue that Apple has yet to acknowledge. They said they will give me a comparable product, which is crap. I've had an iPad since they launched, and this goes beyond absurd. I also am concerned that the iPad Pros I've been given thus far might all be refurbished instead of original products, and perhaps if these were originally devices with damaged screens that have had a screen repair with a screen that is not authorized by Apple if that might be the problem. Considering the volume of people who have written about this sam topic, it seems if that were the source of the problem, then it would have been discovered already.

I have the same problem. I have long suspected that these types of issues are direct result of upgrading the system software. As an example to the truth of my theory; I had a perfectly working iPhone4 for SIX Years before upgrading to a 6plus. I manged that by no longer updating after iOS 5.0 was released. If you take into consideration the rate tech advances these days, in my opinion, trying to run the new software on old hardware is like trying to run windows 10 on a pc built for XP. Yes, it meant after a couple years the new apps didn’t work with my device. It still functioned as a phone though and could do most of what I needed it to do. Unfortunately, I didn’t realize how much time had passed when I did the last update on my current iPad. To make matters worse I have since downloaded new apps and will loose all progress on them if I revert to the previous saved iOS. Buying Apple (at a premium) was meant to be an Investment in a product that would Last. I would not invest nearly $1300 on a device that is designed to stop working properly after just 2 years. UGH... Pardon my rant.

My suggestion:

1. Copy all your photos to a PC.

2. Rest to factory settings.

3. Do Not update Ever again.

In in the end you will loose some of your data and games but Save Your Device. Which is more valuable?
