Yes, I am still using Aperture. NOTHING I have seen comes close to the interface such as the moveable Adjustment pallet, especially in full screen view. The Repair/Clone Tool is far superior to what Lightroom offers.

I am currently using it on a Late 2013 iMac running Mojave and a Late 2017 MacBook Pro also on Mojave. I intend to keep using Aperture until something better comes along. Translation - I intend to keep using Aperture. Period.

There are many, many other alternative apps to Aperture. None of them are quite the same, and arguably, none hit the sweet spot between media manager and non-destructive processor quite as well. But they all have a considerable advantage over Aperture now, and that is they have seen continuous development over the past 5 years, while Aperture has seen none. Even if you don't like Lightroom (in either of its guises), it is inarguable that it's tools are, bluntly, 5 years more developed than Aperture's now, and that gap is only going to grow. Among the other alternatives (a non-exhaustive list): CaptureOne, OnOne Photo Raw 2019, Luminar 2018 (which gets a DAM module in a December release), Mylio, DxO PhotoLab, Darktable - these can be used either alone or in tandem with each other. For instance, in LR Classic, you can send your Raw to DxO PhotoLab and return it, if you prefer its Raw processing, and use LR for its DAM capabilities. Almost all of them can be used in tandem with pixel editors like Photoshop or Affinity Photo, or plug-ins like the Nik Collection, or even as plug-ins to each other. While you may prefer to Repair tool in Aperture to that in Lr, there is no way that you can't beat that with one or other of the alternatives.

Unfortunately, about the only thing that can be said with a degree of certainty is that this won't happen. Even if you don't upgrade the OS past the point where Aperture runs, sooner or later the hardware will give out, and you'll need a new machine, and then you'll be moving to a new app anyway. The difference being that migrating now, with Aperture running, is a PITA, migrating when it has ceased to run, will be a fully-fledged crisis with a severe risk of dataloss.

I was told today by Apple that I could not have my aperture software loaded onto a new iMac 27”. I wanted to move my aperture pics over to Lightroom on it. Therefore I did not buy it. I am very very disappointed and feel very let down. I was told by some Apple help liners I could, then expert advise said I could not. I now read someone is using it on an imac 27”. I am so Confused.

Aperture 3.6 perfekt running till High Sierra 10.13. I bought an new iMac on beginning of July. On that time it was stiil installed High Sierra. I will never upgrade to any newer macOS on that Partion. Because Aperture doesn‘t run there without of errors. Maybe I create a 2nd partion where I install the newer macOS. During booting and press ALT switch between the systems. Please notice: If you upgrade to Mojave you not can go back on that maschine to High Sierra told me the second level support from Apple. parellel to Aperture i switching to On1 Photo RAW.

I’m still using Aperture…but could be almost time to switch. I got a new camera whose RAW files aren’t being converted in Aperture. Extremely sad about that. Opened in Lightroom (which I haven’t used in years), and…it’s horrible. I don’t know how to get the same results I was getting in Aperture.

Thinking about trying Capture One, now. Desperately wish for a time machine so I could go back and find a way to convince Steve to keep Aperture development going — forever!

The good news is that there are literally thousands of videos on YouTube that cover just about every facet of LR, and you can pick stuff up pretty fast from these. The biggest downside (I think) is the modular nature of the interface. You have to switch to the Develop mode to get the tools you recognise from Aperture.
