Can the size of the on screen keyboard be reduced?

On the ipad, the keyboard takes up about half the screen when it is horizontal. I know how to split and undock the keyboard, but that isn't the problem. Is there a way to reduce the keyboard size? If I need to download a third party keyboard app, which one would you recommend for a smaller keyboard?

Bonus Question:

I have an android phone and I can change the size of the GBoard in the settings. However, when I downloaded the GBoard for ipad, there weren't any size change settings. Is keyboard resizing just not compatible with iOS?

Thanks.

Some third party virtual keyboards will offer lower/slimmer height keys.

If you are looking for a third party keyboard with variable height keys as well as more easy access to most common keys and symbols and with the addition of text “I-beam” navigation keys, I would recommend PadKeys for your iPad.

This is just my own recommendtion.

I use PadKeys on all of my iPads

Plenty of other third party keyboards in the iOS App Store.

Good Luck to You!
