price hike

what is with the sudden price hike in Macbook pro? I have been a life long PC user who played picked up a MacBook Air a few months back. Impressed with the performance I planned to switch to Macbook Pro once new models came out. Well they are here And I was ready to spend 2800 for a new laptop but with the new model come a $900 price jump from $2799 to $3699. There is nothing in the upgrade to justify such a price hike. $2799 was really high but seemed worth it but $3699 is just absurd. Am truly bummed and guess I go back to PC that is not supremely overpriced.

I may be missing something, but the 15" MacBook Pro with Touch Bar, is still priced at $2799 for the base model: Buy MacBook Pro - Apple

If you are seeing that price somewhere, its definitely not from Apple.

Apple has decided on the combination of features, options, and asking price for each offered model.

There is nothing in the upgrade to justify such a price hike.

... then you should say, "these features are not worth the price to me" and not buy that one.

The folks at the Apple brick and mortar store are trained to help you find a solution that meets your needs, at a price you can afford. That is not always possible, but they can show you alternatives and help you understand the trade-offs.

Perhaps you are making assumptions about minimum requirements you need that simply do not apply.
