how many pages can Pages actually hold?

I'm starting to feel a bit nervous about this. Does anybody know?

12" PowerBook G-4 (ah! I really do LOVE it!), Mac OS X (10.4.6), 768MB memory...but I know that I'll be wanting more

My book manuscript is currently at 711 pages and growing. I had cut about 250 pages from my AppleWorks version before putting it up into Pages for my final text draft...but since then, as stories tend to go, it's breathing with a new life on its own. It's eating up new words and they are fattening...so the story is expanding along the way.

I was beginning to get nervous because there are some images, which I had to remove until I finish with the text because it was making things move sluggishly. I was worried that when the images are put back into the document that it might crash on me.

Thanks.

Obviously something that important needs regular backups. I wouldn't trust any program not to crash, despite the fact that I have had no problems with OS X or Pages.

When I am doing my music mixes, which are very complicated, I save them often, many times with a different date so I have multiple files at varying stages saved by date.

You are right, and thanks for the welcome! I just picked up a canon mp530 multifunction printer and just before that came the imac 24", and I got a little ahead of myself, trying to run before I can walk. I have figured out the issue of duplex printing (had to do with clicking the correct stapling side in duplex printing section of print command).

Now all I need to do is spend the time to learn what I can do with the Pages Brochure template on a mac computer. slowly....slowly....

Off the topic of printing, do you know if it is possible to have a different column order when going back and forth between send and recieve in Outlook on imac? It seems that the columns cannot be altered between the two....

I share your concern. There must be limits, but Apple hasn't told us what they are.

I'm working on a document that's currently 898 pages (222,236 words). It doesn't include any graphics. Pages handles it well.

But here's the interesting part. I imported the file to Pages from Microsoft Word. For the same formatting, the same number of words and pages, the Pages file is 716 KB; the Microsoft Word file is 2.6 MB.
