Adjusting HomePod volume levels (or balance) per-speaker in a Stereo Pairing

Is there a way to adjust the individual volume levels of two HomePods in a Stereo Pairing?

I tried to de-group the speakers, adjust the volume on one unit, then re-pair them, but that seemed to reset the volume level to be equal on both units.

I happen to sit closer to one unit than another, and it would be nice to give a bit more oomph to the speaker that is farther away. I can't really adjust my entire living room furniture and layout to space the two units out equally between my ears, unfortunately.

I'd be happy with an easy tweak to the balance, but, figured adjusting the volume level per-unit would accomplish a similar result.

No feature to adjust balance at present. Use Feedback - HomePod - Apple to suggest one, but I suspect Apple won't want to add more controls.
