No "Calls on Other Devices" option in Settings

I can not find the "Calls on Other Devices" option in Settings/Phone. All other options are there. Phone is running iOS ver 11.4.

Does anyone know why the "Calls on Other Devices" option disappeared?

Thanks,

Hank

Hi gartlandh,

I appreciate you getting back to us with the additional information. Signing in to FaceTime is a requirement for setting up Calls on Other Devices. Since you encountered an error attempting to activate FaceTime on both the iPhone and MacBook Air, we'll want to address that issue next.

Here's a resource that can help:

If you get an error when trying to activate iMessage or FaceTime - Apple Support

Once you are able to sign in and activate FaceTime on the iPhone, check if the option for Calls on Other Devices appears. If you're not able to activate FaceTime on the iPhone after trying these steps, or it takes more than 24 hours to activate, follow the steps here:

Still not activated after a day?

It might take up to 24 hours to activate iMessage and FaceTime. If the issue continues after 24 hours, follow these steps:

  1. Make sure that your device has the latest version of iOS.
  2. If you're using an iPhone, contact your carrier to make sure that you can receive SMS messages.
  3. Contact Apple Support.

Take care.

Hello gartlandh,

Thank you for using Apple Support Communities! I understand that the Calls on Other Devices option does not appear on your iPhone 6s from Settings > Phone. You've come to the right place for a resolution.

Let's start by confirming that the iPhone is still set up for use with iPhone Cellular Calls or Wi-Fi calling:

Use Continuity to connect your Mac, iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, and Apple Watch - Apple Support

Here's the settings to check for when using iPhone Cellular Calls:

Set up iPhone Cellular Calls

Use iPhone Cellular Calls with any Mac, iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch that meets the Continuity system requirements. It works when your devices are near each other and set up as follows:

  • Each device is signed in to iCloud with the same Apple ID.
  • Each device is signed in to FaceTime with the same Apple ID.
  • Each device has Wi-Fi turned on.
  • Each device is connected to the same network using Wi-Fi or Ethernet.
  • On iPhone, go to Settings > Phone > Calls on Other Devices, then turn on Allow Calls on Other Devices.

If you're wanting to use Calls on Other Devices with Wi-Fi calling, here's what to check for:

Make a call with Wi-Fi Calling - Apple Support

Specifically, use these steps:

Make and receive Wi-Fi calls from another device

If your carrier supports Wi-Fi Calling on iCloud-connected devices, you can also make and receive Wi-Fi calls on other devices. You can use Wi-Fi Calling on these devices, even if your iPhone isn't on the same Wi-Fi Network or turned on:

iPad or iPod touch with iOS 9 or later

Make sure that you're signed in to iCloud and FaceTime with the same Apple ID that you use on your iPhone. Also make sure that your devices have the latest software.

You'll also want to make sure Wi-Fi Calling has been turned on from Settings > Phone. Then turn on Calls on Other Devices. If you still do not see that option after following the steps above, try to restart the iPhone then check if there's any change:

Restart your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support

Keep us posted with the results.

Cheers!

Joseph_S,

Thank you for your prompt replay. Unfortunately, your suggestions did not solve my problem.

If I try to sign in to FaceTime on my phone, I get a message that says, "An error occurred during activation. Try again."

Also, if I try to sign in to iMessage on my MacBook Air, I get a message that says, "Could not sign in to iMessage. An error occurred during activation." If I try to sign in to FaceTime on my MacBook Air, I get the same type of message.

If I try to sign in to iCloud with my MacBook Air, I get a message that says, "Network is unavailable or slow. There was a problem loading the application." However, I can sign in to iCloud on my iPhone through our home network. Home network seems to be fine.

I have the same problems and error messages on my iPad.

This is quite a mystery!

Cheers,

Hank
