Can I use use old imac for display for macbook pro

have a new MacBook Pro and I'd like to use my huge old iMac as a display for the laptop. The MacBook has USB 3 ports and the iMac has (i believe) a mini display port. See I Mac photo below. if it's possible, how do I do it? Thank you!
