2018 MacBook Pro with Core i9 Experiencing Beach Ball Freezes in Safari

I have a new 2018 MacBook Pro with a Core i9 processor, 32GB RAM, and 1TB SSD running MacOS 10.13.6 and keep running into freezes on some websites with Safari. I'm just wondering if anyone else is experiencing this or not.

What will happen is that I go to a webpage and it will begin to load, with the progress bar moving about an inch and then Safari will freeze and bring up the beach ball cursor. If I let it sit for a couple of minutes, the page will eventually load, but it does take quite some time. Usually after one page has failed to load, subsequent pages on that site will freeze as well. I have force-quit Safari and reported the results to Apple, but this still continues to happen on a regular and it seems like a more frequent basis. The same pages loaded on any of my other Macs work just fine. It is only occurring on this new MacBook Pro machine.

Any thoughts on what might be causing this?

Thanks in advance for any info that can be provided.

I called in into Apple Support as well and they had me perform an SMC reset and an NVRAM RESET and so far, that has resolved the issue for me. You might want to give these a shot.

SMC Reset

NVRAM Reset

Good luck!

Hi, I have the same issue on my MacBook Pro 2018 (2,6 GHz), mostly with Washingtonpost-com but also on many other instances on High Sierra, see my post here: Re: Serious issues with Safari - freezes and spinning wheels

Other instances where I get freezes and have to wait several minutes:

- Safari > Settings

- Safari > Settings > Security

- Opening the Messages app

- System Settings > Apple Pay > Add card

I have reported this to Apple Support and they have forwarded the rapport to the engineers - I'm still waiting for an answer.
