Changing thumbnail for iMovie project file

I am using a 2016 MacBook Pro and iMovie 10.1.9. I understand iMovie auto-selects a frame in the midpoint of the movie to display as a thumbnail. However, this particular frame in my movie is about the most lousy frame in the whole movie to present as a cover or representing the movie. I have it all fine tuned and don't want to mess with the content of the project. How can I choose a different frame to use as a thumbnail or cover image?

iMac Aluminum & Mac Book Pro, Mac OS X (10.5.2)

Throw in a black backround at the beginning or end of the movie to change the midpoint.

Hey, Timpanogos!

While saving your movie, you can use the scroll bar over the thumbnail that appears to scroll through your project and choose a better location for a thumbnail.

This seems to work for sharing it as a file, but I can't seem to get it to work for sharing it to the Theater. The file has the new thumbnail I chose, but the thumbnail in the Theater is not the one I selected, but the midpoint frame.

What might I be doing wrong?

I don't think that is a result of you doing something incorrectly. However, it seems as though thumbnail selection is not available for iMovie Theater.
