Confirmation of receipt

Is it possible with Mail to get an acknowledgement that the recipient got the mail I've sent? In other systems there's a button you can klick on when you wish such a confirmation?

Thanks for an answer!

LAN based e-mail programs such as Lotus Notes which are available for the Mac do have return receipt.

The Mail application does not include a message delivery or read receipt request nor does it provide a read receipt request without your knowledge. You can request a read receipt for all sent messages but if a recipient's email client supports this, the recipient will also have the ability to turn if off. I use Windows Outlook on a Windows PC at work and I don't request a read receipt nor do I provide a read receipt when requested by the sender of a message.

Via the Terminal, you can have Mail request a read receipt for all sent messages.
