If you have the original, 1st generation iPad Air, the only multitasking screen that iPad has access to is the narrower Slide Over screen to access another app to work in or use.
The 1st gen iPad Air will NOT, CANNOT do 50/50 split screen multitasking.
The 2nd generation iPad Air 2 is the iPad Air model that can do full 50/50 split screen multitasking views.
