Battery Widget does not show the airpod case battery life

I have a iphone 7 plus with the latest ios on it. I recently got airpods. I have enabled the battery widget but I only see Airpods life on it and not the case battery life.

Also what happens if I keep the Airpods inside the case even if they are 100% charged ? Will they get overcharged ? Same question for keep the case on charging

AirPods, iOS 11.4.1

You won’t see the case in the widget since the case is not paired with the iPhone - only the earpieces themselves are.

You cannot over charge any Apple lithium battery device. They all have over charge protection built in (charging simply stops when at capacity). That is actually part of global industry standards for SMART lithium battery technology.
