photos grayed out on my desktop?

Hello There.

Apples Photo software stopped working properly. They look great on my Mini iPad and so on my 12.9'' Apple Pro.

The pictures are all in iCloud ,I've got sufficient memory. However they don't want to download for editing on my desktop.

Has anyone have an answer to this.If so I would greatly appreciate any help.Thank You: John Basso.

Which photo app is on your iMac? iPhoto or Photos? Your OS has Photos included, so is that what you are using? And, have you checked out these articles:

Use Photos on your Mac - Apple Support

Updating from iPhoto to Photos for macOS - Apple Support

FWIW, neither display settings nor contrast should impact your ability to download/sync photos to your Mac.

Thanks for your reply,My pictures are on 4 devices PE: my iPhone X.iPad Mini,iPad Pro 12.9'' and my 24''iMac early 2008 runing El Capitan 10.11.6 .I have had Apple Support on line a few days ago with an excellent Apple expert and he managed to get pretty well everything in order.( I was told that my situation had to do with the earlier iPhoto etc.

So ,It works fine on all devices ,exept on my desktop.Could it be that in the beginning my apple iD was ...me and now .mac ? JB
