Mac only reading part of my external hard drive

Hi Guys,

I'm having problems with my external hard drive when i connect it to my MacBook Pro. Recent it was not mounting the drive so i had to reformat it and now its mounted but its only reading 100gb of my 1TB.

I looks like there is a Partition on the drive but when i try to remove the partition, it give me an error as per below:

Hi Eric,

I found out what i had to do. I recently update my software to High Sierra but the external hard drive was formatted to the old Mac OS so i had to simply convert the drive to APFS.

Thanks for your help though.

That was not the problem.

At this point, you don't want to run APFS on an external, especially a spinning hard drive. Maybe when Apple sorts it out, but it isn't optimized for spinning hard drives, and it doesn't offer any real benefits over HFS+.
