I don't want update my iPhone to iOS 11 because last time I had updated on my old iPhone 6s Plus then I noticed my battery iPhone was fast draining than before I updated. I use the phone for almost 6 months and one day when I turn on my phone , the screen appears logo iTunes. So I went to apple service centre and they told me that my iPhone can't fix because of software problem. That why I afraid to update my current iPhone to iOS 11.

Without iOS 11, you will not be able to pair the watch. watchOS 4 requires iOS 11. No way around that.

For whatever its worth, I use iOS 11 on an iPhone 6 plus, an iPhone 7, iPad 5th gen and iPad Pro first gen, and have experienced no issues with it.

If the watch is running WatchOS 4, then you will need iOS 11 on your iPhone.

Otherwise yes, it is compatible.

The watch is running on watchOS 4. If I don't update the iOS version then can I use the watch ?

No. watchOS 4 requires iOS 11. If your iPhone is not running iOS 11 it will not work with the Watch.

Any reason you don't want to update your iPhone to iOS 11?
