There currently is no Apple supported way of burning a Blu-Ray disc. The only software that is out at the moment that can burn such a disc is the new version of Toast. I personally do not have the new version so I can't give you an exact answer but I don't think a DVD designed in DVDSP can be burned through Toast....at least not a full blown 1080i/p disc...
Blu-Ray still has about a year before it takes off. Apple is usually really good about being on top of new hardware support so I would bet that the new version of Final Cut Studio will support HD DVD & Blu-Ray.
I've burned a Blu ray DVD and it does play on the Samsung player if the Samsung still has it's original firmware. They also play fine on the current Panasonic. These are BDMV BD-RW discs, created with AvidDVD5.6 (aka DVDit HD).
