Error connecting to the Apple ID server

I was going crazy with constant iCloud login problems. The culprit was Hands Off!, I removed it and all is back to normal.

iMac (Retina 5K, 27-inch, 2017), macOS High Sierra (10.13.6)

Yep. Constant access to the Internet are (one of) the most common culprits in all problems encountered in OSs today (not only macOS alas...). The "priority" that the OS(s) assign to these distant connections (often overloaded) over all the user's other tasks is — in my very humble opinion — the most questionable...


The next time you'll — possibly... — wish to connect iCloud, try to check the availability of Apple servers here: https://www.apple.com/support/systemstatus/
