Siri is pathetic on Apple Watch

I've abandoned all expectation that simplying saying "Hey, Siri" is going to get me anywhere. Nothing happens, so you end up feeling stupid for talking to an inanimate object. (I hate the name Siri, anyway). So I use the "hold the red button" approach, then it tells me that it will tap me when it's ready. When it does and I ask it a basic thing like "set the timer" It doesn't record/listen/whatever and then comes back with the response that it didn't get my request and asks me to repeat and then of course, nothing happens. All the hate bubbling up about Siri is beginning to make sense to me. Is there anyway to get a response out of Siri. Any response now would be something.

I don't use Hey Siri on my Apple Watch, however holding the button down and saying my command and then releasing the button seems to work quite well for me. If nothing is happening after you hold the button and then command, and it shows it will tap you when ready, then it would seem it is not getting the command, or cannot find what it is that you have asked for. I find for longer requests that I hold the button, but short requests can be done by pressing the button and releasing. Since I don't use Hey Siri, I cannot comment on problems with it.

Glad I was able to help. I've read your other response, and yes things have come a long way. I'm rather tech savvy, but I'm older and tend to be set in my ways, so I've only really experimented with Siri, as I'm used to doing things manually. But as I use it, I tend to learn a lot about it, and am actually amazed at how it can handle different languages and dialect. Keep working on it, and I'm sure you will get used to it.

Thanks for the responding question. The mic works okay. Phone calls, provided cell reception is good, are good. I think it's a Siri issue. I read lots of complaints about Siri and hear about it (as well as Alexa and Cortana and whatever else is out there). Still in the beginning stages of this sort of thing, I suppose. It's come a long way from Dragon Dictate used where I used to work, but still has problems especially with regional differences, accents, dialects.
