My IPhone 8 is completely frozen/home button unresponsive

My Iphone 8 plus is completely unresponsive as of last night. At aprox. 2am, the screen went to the white apple logo on a black background and completely was unresponsive to button commands. Since then, it died once, and after plugging it back in it gave me a normal response, except for the home button. The home button is completely not working still. I thought maybe the problem would be fixed by updating the phone, but now that the phone has updated, it's showing the white screen with "press home to upgrade." I CANNOT PRESS HOME! I'm completely stuck now with that screen since the home button won't work. I tried backing it up to my Macbook, but I cannot since my phone is also password protected. I just got this phone 2 weeks ago also, so it had not had any damage/shouldn't be broken.
