As you know, these two computers come with the same type of charger, 60W MagSafe Power Adapter:
MacBook6,1 (MacBook 13-inch, Late 2009)
MacBookPro9,2 (MacBook Pro 13-inch, Mid 2012)

I have a 2011 Macbook Pro. A friend gave me an 85w charger but it doesn't charge the battery, even when the computer's closed. It also doesn't light up. It shows the lightning bolt symbol in the battery icon and seems to maintain the charge but that's it.
The 85-watt adapter will work on both. The 60-watt adapter works on either.
You can look at Find the right power adapter and cable for your Mac notebook - Apple Support and find out which is the best for your Mac. But they say it should work the same.

Yes. The two computers come with 60-watt MagSafe chargers, so both will work with 85-watt MagSafe chargers.
I recommend that you start your own posting in the correct forum for MacBook Pros.
