Hi,

Samsung 860 Pro 512GB, best of the best (and best price-quality ratio, in addition...)

See if this guide matches to your Mac type/model:

Buy all the necessary tools and wear an antistatic wristband (contrary to the lady, there...)

Regards.

Samsung had the top billing for a long time but we are seeing more problem reports here. Also their support is well below expectations. My son, a computer engineer with a major component manufacturer, needed support for a consumer-grade Samsung drive and newer got timely response or a satisfactory answer. He figured it out for himself.

My 2012 13-inch MBP has this Kit:

OWC DIY KIT: Express USB 3.0/2.0 2.5" Enclosure +... at MacSales.com

I could not be happier with the outcome. The included external drive made the transfer of data very easy. If you have the 13-inch model BE SURE to replace the hard drive cable at the same time you change out the drive. The cable has a habit of showing wear due to the normal vibration of use and transport after 3-5 yeas and the symptoms of this mimic a failing hard drive. OWC also sells the cable:
