FCPX10.4 slo-mo issue with Sony a7iii @120fps

I have a Sony a7iii camera and i use FCPX10.4 to edit the video clips i shoot on the Sony, however when i add a 1080p 120 fps shot that i want to use for slo-mo it only shows up as 1080p 60 fps in the inspector before i start using it? Am i doing something wrong for it not to show 120fps or is it a bug?

The quality doesn't look as good as i would have expected either so when i reduce its speed to half to get good slo-mo it doesn't look as sharp as i would expect it to

Can someone point me in the right direction for a solution?

iMac (27-inch, Late 2013), macOS High Sierra (10.13.6)

The inspector only displays standard frame rates. Put you clip in whatever project frame rate you want and set the clip using retiming to Automatic Speed.

To help me get my head around this, is the following happening ............So by retiming it using the Automatic speed button does FCPX see it at 120FPS and then slow it down to 30FPS or does it see it at 60fps and slow it to 30 or 15fps?

It sees it as it whatever it is. In Automatic Speed FCP puts a frame of video from the clip for every frame in the timeline. A 30fps project will give you quarter speed video. For full quality playback set the video to Better Quality and render.
