Safari settings for websites

I am trying to get a location dialogue box to stop coming up when logging out of on-line banking. When at the website, I click on Safari, Settings for this Website, for location I select 'Deny.' For some reason this resets to 'ask.' Anyone know how to keep this at the setting I select and not reset?

Might be a corrupt .plist.

Do a backup, preferably 2 backups on 2 separate drives.

Quit the application.

Go to Finder and select your user/home folder. With that Finder window as the front window, either select Finder/View/Show View options or go command - J. When the View options opens, check ’Show Library Folder’. That should make your user library folder visible in your user/home folder. Select Library. Then go to Preferences/com.apple.Safari.plist. Move the .plist to your desktop.

Restart the computer, open the application, and test. If it works okay, delete the plist from the desktop.

If the application is the same, return the .plist to where you got it from, overwriting the newer one.

This may require a reset of some other Preferences.

Thanks to leonie for some information contained in this.

Thanks for replying Eric. Tried what you suggested but 'Show Library Folder' is not an option to be selected. I opened the HD, selected 'file', then 'find' and entered 'Preferences/com.apple.Safari.plist' and got no results. You need to understand that referring to me as any sort of computer guru is an extremely funny joke. What I have learned is from people like you.

First you need to be in your home folder window:

User uploaded file

Then under View menu select Show View Options.

User uploaded file

Finally, check this checkbox:

User uploaded file

That will make the Library folder visible.

Note: Spotlight can't search inside systems, library and other protected folders. To do that download and use the donation ware Find Any File which can search in system, library and invisible folders as well as in applications and other packages like Photos libraries.

Definite improvement Eric. Library is now listed on the HD and, when checking preferences for this website, 'Deny' is selected. I did notice that 'com.apple.safari.plist' is not listed under preferences after this process. Prior to this, using the FAF app, the only listing for com.apple.safari.plist was in HD/System/Library/Preferences/Logging/Subsystems. I was not able to remove this.
