My iphone 6s suddenly stopped working, and is now asking to be restored. I tried doing so using multiple leads and multiple computers, but iTunes doesn't even recognise that the phone has been plugged in to the computer.

Can you give a little more details for your situation? First off, does your iPhone ONLY display the same screen as the screenshot below this text?
If you can only turn the iPhone on to this screen then power down your device. You will need to enter DFU mode to perform a restore as one last shot, read the link at the bottom of my post and follow the directions for “entering DFU mode” - those direction differ depending on your model iPhone !

Have you tried “Reset Network Settings”, that basically removes all WiFi passwords but it should also reset the “Trusted Device” when first connecting to a Mac/iTunes.

Well this is odd. It was only showing the above screen for three days. Now it's just decided to start working again. Still no luck with getting iTunes to recognise it, though.
