Missing Operating system on Macbook pro

Hi,

I brought a new HDD for my Macbook Pro . and connected to the system . it started showing me a flashing folder with question mark error.

Then I figured out that the HDD is not being detected. I Connected it to a windows machine and converted it to GPT format and set the partition active in the command prompt.

Again I connected it to my laptop and now HDD was detected. but it says "MISSING OPERATING SYSTEM"

I tried all the combination keys like Cmd+R, Cmd+Option+R etc but nothing works.

I am able to get the drive option when I press option at the start and when I select it, again the same msg in the black screen "MISSING OPERATING SYSTEM"

I am not able to get the Internet recovery or the Globe for internet download.

Old HDD has been formatted and no files .. :-(

It needs to be formatted for Mac before you can do anything else (and you can't do that on a Windows machine). So, you need a working Mac or a bootable clone to boot into; then put the HD in an external enclosure and format it Mac OS Extended (Journaled) and GUID partition scheme to make it bootable. Once you have that, you should be able to use the keys to start into internet recovery to install the OS.

Hey tamim013,

I can see that you're attempting to install macOS on the newly installed HDD for your MacBook Pro. It sounds like you've tried some great steps to help with this and even attempted to boot into internet recovery. Due to the nature of the issue and since you're unable to install via Internet Recovery, you will find more appropriate help by visiting an Apple Retail Store or Apple Authorized Service Provider near you that can install this for you. You can locate on in your area using this link here: Find Locations
