ARD VirtualBox RDP

Has anyone been able to use Apple Remote Desktop to connect to a VirtualBox RemoteDesktop port?

I know VRDP is backwards compatible with RDP. Does ARD even support RDP? It's frustrating as all get out.

I need to connect to a couple of my virtual machines through the virtual console, not the running OS itself. So, I make sure that I am using the virtualbox Host IP address and the port specified for that running guest. Shouldn't ARD be able to connect? Other RDP clients are able to work just fine. Maybe ARD isn't meant to remotely access non macos devices? I just don't want to have to install a gazillion different apps when ONE ought to do the trick.

Any help would be welcomed and greatly appreciated.
