my daughters phone and mine are linked such that we see each others missed callas and i see all of her text messages

My daughters iPhone and mine are linked such that we see each others missed calls and I see all of her text messages

I originally set it up for her as a child's phone and she has a separate number but my call history shows her missed calls and hers shows mine. I seem to be seeing all of the text messages ( or maybe just iMessages??) that she receives and when she renamed her phone to something comical, my phone now also defaults to the same name rather than 'caroline's iPhone' which it always was before i got my daughter one.

Does anyone know how this has happened and how i fix it, while still keeping her phone identified as a child's?

This means that you are both signed in on the same Apple ID.

Any device that is signed in with the same Apple ID will have access to the same content.

The fix for this is the create a new and different Apple ID, and then assign that Apple ID to one or the other of you. You'd sign out of iCloud, out of FaceTime and iMessage and iTunes, and then out of the phone. You'd then sign into the phone with the new Apple ID.

There may be some data loss, but you can minimize it. If syncing photos with iCloud, ensure Optimization is turned off in Settings/Your Name/iCloud/Photos and/or in Photos/Preferences/iCloud. Then make sure full resolution photos are on the device/computer. When signing out of iCloud, if asked whether you want to retain data, choose yes. Messages conversations will be lost if they are addressed to the ID. See the article below for other places that the old ID should be removed. Also set up Family Sharing to keep access to your apps.
