I cable connected my Canon G16 to my mac pro but it is not recognized by Finder as an attached device. It is not recognized in Image Ca[pture or Utilities Folder/System Info/camera. What should I do next? Had installed latest Cannon driver and latest OS 10.13.6 beforehand.

Try a new cable.
Try system preferences printers and scanners to add it that way.
Mac OS is supposed to recognized external device connected to USB port, which it doesn't. It did in the past with earlier OS version and Canon driver. (I have no camera info to insert into printers and scanners pane.) Need to know next step when Mac fails to recognize external camera connection.
Have you tried connecting to a different USB port?
Are you able to see the memory card when inserted into the card reader of your Mac?
