I have to reset my wife’s iPhone 8 Plus.

I have to reset my wife’s iPhone 8 Plus. I followed the instructions of how to do the reset, but after apple logo appears the screen either goes blank or will go to “Press home to upgrade”. When we try to proceed it acts like it will let you log in, but when I try to logon everything starts again. Any ideas?
