My iPhone X was on charger for the night. Now is black and won’t turn on. Still warm an hour after I removed it from the charger.

Was it the 1st time you tried to perform the "force restart" procedure?
Should be this case, and since it's not a "comfortable" operation, I would give it a try again.
But if nothing happens, yes, it's better if you go to the Apple Service center.

See if you can turn it on performing a forced restart:
Press and quickly release the Volume Up button. Press and quickly release the Volume Down button. Then, press and hold the Side button until you see the Apple logo. When it appears, release the side button, wait for your iPX to restart, then test it.
If you have no improvements, since it is still under warranty, have your device inspected at your most convenient Apple Store or Authorized Service Provider: Apple - Find Locations - Location Selector
