Does enabling File Vault after all software installed cause performance issues?

Does enabling File Vault in macOS High Sierra on Mac Book Pro 2018 after all software installed cause performance issues? I am concerned to use disk encryption again after previous problems before APFS or Apple File System recently announced and used. Has anyone had great results? Thank you.

MacBook Pro (15-inch, 2018), macOS High Sierra (10.13.6)

I've used FileVault on a 2012 MacBook Air and my current 2016 MacBook Pro (both before and after High Sierra with APFS). There has been no noticeable performance impact.
