Can't get new IPAD to connect to Echo

I just bought a new Ipad 6. It sets up and works on everything so far but I can't get it paired with my ECHO. My old Ipad and my Win 10 pc connect ok. I made sure the bluetooth in settings is turned on an in that setting it says"Now discoverable as iPad" DEVICES and has the circle going around but when I ask Alexa to pair or play bluetooth nothing happens. Any suggestions?
