Alphanumeric passcode in iphone while ipod touch requests a numeric passcode for verification

I have a corporate iphone for which an alphanumerical passcode was created. Now, my ipod touch that shares the same apple id is requiring me my iphone passcode giving me only 6 digits with the numerical pad. I still have record of the initial numeric passcode I needed to create for my iphone (before corporate security took over and forced the creation of the alphanumeric passcode) but it didn't work either. How should I proceed?
