Is it expensive to repair an unresponsive ipad air 2 device?

i used my ipad air 2 wednesday and by thursday it wouldnt come on. I am on the latest version of ios, as i had just updated it. I tried restarting it, connecting it to itunes and nothing. I’m thinking that i have to either get a new one or send it to get fixed. So my question is is it better to get a new one or get it fixed? Can someone enlighten me? Thank you in advance.

I would suggest more troubleshooting. See if this helps: https://support.apple.com/en-gb/HT201412. If not, make an appointment at an Apple store for an evaluation. They will discuss your options if they can’t get it to work.

Have you tried a hard reset of your iPad by holding down both the Home and sleep/wake buttons simultaneously until your iPad goes to black and restarts with Apple logo, then release the buttons?

If no joy, could, possibly, a battery issue.

I would just bring this iPad into your “local” Apple Store for diagnosis and possible options to you.

If Apple Store determines that the battery in that iPad is defective or has failed, a battery replacement for iPads cost $99 U.S.D., plus tax.

Apple may or may not, at their discretion, to expedite customer service, give you the option for a refurbished, replacement iPad of the exact model as yours for the $99 battery replacement fee.

Good Luck to You!
