Microphone not working on loudspeaker?

Hi All,

I have an issue with my iPhone 5s microphone, this happens when I do the following

  1. Put WhatsApp call on loud.
  2. Siri not taking my command unless I plug my earphones.
  3. Video has no sound for selfies
  4. When I record video using the phone, it cut off the sound

I tried to unplug and plug earphones but the problem isn't getting solved.

iPhone 5s, iOS 11.4.1

Good morning DX4SC0NEFRC4!

It sounds like you’re having some issues with the microphone on your iPhone when recording a video. I’ll be happy to help out with this.

Check out these steps for issues with your microphone on the iPhone: Get help with the microphones on your iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch

Particularly, take a look at the “Get Help” section here:

If you still have issues after testing the microphone on your device, try these steps:

  1. Unplug any accessory plugged into the headset jack, and disconnect any Bluetooth headsets.
  2. Avoid blocking the microphone and iSight mic with your fingers or case while holding the device or recording video.
  3. Remove screen protectors, films, or cases that cover the microphone, iSight mic, or iPhone receiver.
  4. Clear any debris from the microphones or iPhone receiver. Refer to the user guide for your device on microphone locations.
  5. Restart your device.
  6. Make sure you have the latest version of iOS.

If you've tried these steps and people still can't hear you on phone or FaceTime calls or Siri doesn’t hear your requests, contact Apple Support.

Take care!
