When I turn on my desktop & Documents folder it want's me to upgrade to a 50 Gig storage plan, and won't let me bypass this, how can I? I don't want to spend money on something I don't use...

I can't turn on my icloud because it wants me p upgrade and i refuse to, how can i get past this?

MacBook Pro, macOS High Sierra (10.13.6)

I'm not sure I understand. It sounds like you want to store your Desktop & Documents on iCloud but you don't want to pay for the iCloud storage space that would be needed to do that. Why would Apple have a way for you to do that?
