Question

my dictation is not working for word or excel on my MacBook Air which is running the current software

I'm wanting to use dictation on my MacBook Air with 10.13.6 software.

I can talk to Siri, but I can't dictate in any text, word or excel program.

I've turned dictation on under sound and under the keyboard.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

You must click on the Word or Excel application to make it frontmost, or Dictation will simply ignore you. If these are Office 2016 applications, has Dictation every worked with them?

Some applications (e.g. LibreOffice Writer 6.1) are either so slow to respond that it is worthless, or simply ignore simple Dictation commands altogether.
