Codec for Windows Vista Movie Maker

I am trying to copy a song I purchase on iTunes to Windows Vista Movie Maker and Movie Maker says:

"The file C:\Users\tlacey\Music\iTunes\iTunes Music\Compilations\Cat Stevens_ Greatest Hits\09 Father and Son.m4p cannot be imported because the codec required to play the file is not installed on your computer. If you have already tried to download and install the codec, close and restart Windows Movie Maker, and then try to import the file again.".

My Windows Media has Download Codecs Automatically selected to download daily.

How do I get the correct Codec abd how do I install it to Windows Vista Movie Maker?

Files bought from iTunes Music Store are copy protected. They cannot be played or edited by Windows Movie Maker.

Thanks for your response.

I thought that was the reason but I wanted to check because it doesn't makes that Apple does that since:

1. I bought it and I should be able to use it in anyway that I want to.
2. I won't buy anymore from iTunes and need to buy my music elsewhere.

Even when you buy elsewhere, except emusic, there will be copy protection on most files. This will likely be an issue wherever you go.

Well, if you want to still use the music, you can burn the songs to a disk and import them on Windows media player and while you import go to options and check off the protection box. I think there is a faster way without burning the disks but I forgot it. I believe it is on www.Papajohn.net
