Are you still having this problem? It happened to me all of a sudden within the last week or so on my MacBook Pro. Absolutely cannot connect to the messenger service with the "down for maintenance message" appearing. On my Mac Pro desktop, I can at least connect, but it disconnects after some period of time when I am not looking.

I just recently installed the Aiport Extreme update (3/9/07) and I'll bet that's what broke it. I wonder if there's a way to uninstall that update for testing this out.

Ha! Color me stupid on this one. I'd recently changed my password on Yahoo, and the laptop was remembering the old password. Changed it and it's logging in...so the problem, in my case anyways, is that YM is giving the wrong error message when trying to log in with the wrong password.

Original poster might check password and try again. I only caught this because I installed Adium just now to see if I could get it to work, and I mistakenly used the old password again, but at least Adium gave the proper error message.
