Buying a Refurbished Macbook from Amazon?
I like my iMac so much that I'm going to buy a Macbook.
I can get a refurb on Apple from $1099 or from Amazon for $849.
What do I give up for the $250 I save?
Thanks.

Warranty for starters. Apple's refurbished units come with a 1 year warranty and the option to purchase Apple Care for 2 more years of coverage.
Buying from Amazon, means there's no way to know what they did to the Mac to call it refurbished, or what kind of warranty if any it has.
You may end up with a computer that fails with no recourse.
Also as said, trust. You can trust the Apple refurbishment is a quality process that guarantees a computer in as new condition or function as it can possibly be given Apple's strict refurbishment process.
Unless its coming directly from Amazon themselves, and not one of the third party merchants on Amazon there may not be a way to determine what exactly was refurbished about it or what if anything may possibly fail.
Get the refurb through Apple.
Even if the device sold on Amazon was refurbished by Apple, the one-year warranty coverage started as soon as the third-party company purchased it for resale. This could mean your Mac will have little, or perhaps no, warranty once you purchase it. This leaves you at the mercy of the third-party for returns, and will mean you'll be paying for any repairs.
I'd say it's not worth it.

You need to identify the MacBook model, i.e., 2015-2017.
Thanks. I will buy from Apple.
