airpods case find my iphone

Hi All,

I have lost my airpods case, but I have both headphones. I was trying to use Find My iPhone to find the case, but they are not shown on the map, and I have no ability to select the case.

Has anyone had success with finding only the case, using this tool? If I walk down the street with my phone and app open, might I pick up the case location?
