upgrade from 10.7.5 to 10.8

My Mac hard-drive died, I replace it but got upgrade from 10.7.5 and want to update to 10.8. What are the steps?

If you’re going to stop upgrading at 10.8.5, buy a download code for it from the online Apple Store. Otherwise, download El Capitan or Sierra instead; some Mac models can’t be upgraded past 10.7.5 or 10.11.6.
