Apple is discontinuing "Back to My Mac." Is there another solution?

I just heard that Apple is discontinuing "Back to My Mac." The advantage of this service was that remote computers that were on DHCP (or a home cable modem subnet) and did not have fixed IP numbers could always be found easily. Is there another solution?

MacBook Pro, macOS Sierra (10.12.6)

Depends on what exactly you were doing with Back to My Mac.

The File sharing features have been integrated into iCloud with the Documents & Desktop option.

If you need remote control, there other options such as Apple's own remote desktop, and 3rd party ones like Teamviewer or LogMeIn.

I'm actually quite annoyed by this announcement, being able to get direct access to my Mac from my very old MacBook while I'm away from home has always been a great feature of MacOS and the suggestion that we might now have to pay for a very expensive Apple product or use a third party product that may not be quite so trustworthy (or may not even work very well on my clunky old MacBook) is extremely disappointing.

I have used both Team Viewer and VNC in the past on several platforms but Back to my Mac was always much much better.

To be honest I'd actually hoped that the a Back to my Mac client might have one day been made available for iPad but now my hopes are dashed.
