Is there a legal way to get older versions of Mac OS X (Without buying it)?

Hi,

I am wondering if there is a legal way to get OLDER versions of macOS/Mac OS X (For some reason I like older versions of Mac OS X better than the new ones) so I can put it in a Virtual Machine/Emulator (PearPC, QEMU, etc.).

Thanks,

Stephen

If you have ever downloaded them on a Mac, the old macOS versions are tied to the Apple ID, and available from the Mac App Store for redownload. The oldest macOS version you can possibly get with this method is 10.7 Lion.

This method is free.

For versions before that, you need to get the install discs as they were never offered for download.

Beyond that you can still buy download codes for $19.99 for both Lion and Mountain Lion from Apple.

All other macOS versions after Mountain Lion have been delivered through the Mac App Store for free since, and is the only way to get them.
