Brother laser printer and print server

Hi all,
i have an intel-based imac and i need to print with a printer server.
Both the printer server and the printer are mac-compatible, but it doesn't work.
The printer is a brother model HL 2030, and the print server is a trendnet model te100 p1u.

In what way does it not work?

Does the printer work when connected directly to the Mac?

Though for 10.3 this guide will also work for 10.4

Printing to a network ethernet printer (which has an IP address) from a Mac running OS 10.3.x

My Brother HL-2040 suddenly stoped working. i have tried everything including deleting and reinstalling drivers. The print manager seems to recognize the printer and its driver "cups" or something, but wont add the printer giving me this error message, and the printer doesnt show up in print utlities, i have also reset the print manager which does nothing.
