Can not use my 56k USB modem using High Sierra

Since I updated my Mac Pro mid 2010 to High Sierra the network panel in system preferences says my USB modem is not configured. I have a U.S. Roboic 56k USB modem model 5637. I called USR and they said not only that my modem can not work in High Sierra but they know of no other one that will. Any suggestions out there?

And we have a winner. Thank you so much for your reply to my question. The article describes Apple's decision not to include fax capabilities in High Sierra as an annoying frustration. Exactly the same annoying frustration I had when I upgraded an older Mac Pro desk top that had a phone plug connection and found out that Apple had decided to no longer include the phone plug. I solved that frustration by buying the USB 56K modem which basically is a modem that hooks up to a phone line on one end and a USB connection on the other end to hook up to the computer. The lack of hardware support for this option made it clear that a software solution would be the only answer to my problem which is why I came to community for help and I would say off hand that all of you have been helpful in solving my problem.
