Microphone not working in Safari

So, I'm pretty much at a loss at this point, and I'm hoping that someone somewhere has had the same issue and might know how to fix it.

I'm not sure when it started, but I attempted to do an online interview with my company today, and when attempting to do it using Safari as it was going through the audio/video checks it said that it could not detect my microphone.

However, when launching the website it asked me if I wanted to "Allow" or "Deny", of course I chose to Allow. The video came up working fine, the sound played fine, but it could not detect audio from my microphone.

I closed Safari and went into Chrome, and everything worked fine. I also tested my mic with Siri and other software/apps on my iMac and the mic is working fine. It seems the issue is only isolated to Safari.

The strange part is when I try to test my mic on Safari, it acts like it's working, it shows the red mic in the url bar, it's not muted, and it also shows up in my menu bar at the top right of my iMac. When clicking on it, I get a drop down that says "Websites using microphone" and shows the website that I'm on.

I've gone through a lot of stuff to try to check settings, etc. so here's a list of some of the things I've tried.

I've checked System Preferences > Sound > Input

To make sure that the iMac is picking up sound. ✅

I've checked Safari Preferences > Websites

To make sure that the microphone settings are set to "Allow" ✅

I also checked the Privacy tab in Safari Settings to see if there was anything blocking it from working, but there wasn't many options in there to toy with.

Of course I've restarted my Mac. ✅

I've also double checked and verified that my Safari version is up to date as well.

I also tried to put it in Safe Mode (as recommended by a 'Senior Advisor' from Apple Support).

However, this was not successful because Safe Mode disables the audio on the Mac apparently. ⚠

I've also reset the SMC and the PRAM (also as recommended by same 'Senior Advisor')

This seemed to have no affect on the issue at all. ⚠

The website that I'm using to try to test my microphone is onlinemictest.com I've also used a few other sites that are similar to this one, but I've been sticking with this one because it's not loaded down with pop-up ad's and other crazy BS.

The Apple Support advisor took me through a bunch of steps, a lot of them were just repeating steps of what I had already done, and he was pretty much at a loss as well. The most he was able to do was tell me to completely reinstall MacOS and then take it to an Apple Store if the issue isn't resolved after that.

If any of you have any ideas or anything else that I can try, I'd greatly appreciate it.

iMac (21.5-inch, Mid 2014), macOS High Sierra (10.13.5)
