Activation lock iPad air

Hello everyone i was wondering if use could set my mind at ease. I bought a second hand iPad Air from eBay it was only local so was able to go round and collect it on arrival I looked at it and it was like new so I was over the moon as it was a replacement for my daughters old tiered iPad 2 which had finally given up. The guy erased the iPad for me there and then in front of me I dashed home to set it up to find out about this activation lock I was gutted. Anyway I drove back round and the guy put his username and password in and we set it up as a new using my daughters username and password but he didn't turn off find my iPhone as he only put his details in to remove activation lock. Does this mean it is now not associated with him or is it it a case if I have to erase the iPad will it need his details in again ?

cheers

Andy

He can read below:

If you no longer have your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch

If the steps above weren't completed and you no longer have your device, use these steps:

  1. Ask the new owner to erase all content and settings using the above steps.
  2. If you're using iCloud and Find My iPhone on the device, sign in to iCloud.com or the Find My iPhone app on another device, select the device, and click Erase. After the device has been erased, click Remove from Account.
  3. If you can't follow either of the above steps, change your Apple ID password. This won't remove personal information that's stored on your old device, but it prevents the new owner from deleting your information from iCloud.
  4. If you're switching to a non-Apple phone, deregister iMessage.
  5. If you're using Apple Pay, you can remove your credit or debit cards at iCloud.com. Choose Settings to see which devices are using Apple Pay, then click the device. Next to Apple Pay, click Remove.

You don't need to post the image.

We know Activation Lock very well.

When you see that screen means the feature against theft is working, there's no workaround or bypass for that;

unless you have the original Apple ID & password that was used to lock it.

Best you return the iPad for a refund since you'll not be able to use it.

The iPad maybe a stolen device that is why the seller cannot or will not help.

Make a claim with eBay if the seller do not refund.

So him putting his user name and password in and then selecting set up as a new iPad still keeps the iPad linked to him if so that’s crazy

Settings > [the owner's name] > iCloud > Find My iPad > must be OFF here and to do that the original Apple ID & password must be use to turn it off.
