iMovie - won't capture audio

I have a Mac Book Pro (MacOS High Sierra 10.13.1). Worked ok for years but now it has stopped capturing audio from my camcorder Canon XM2 and now today won't capture video either. Any ideas please?

When I record video directly into iMovie it is not recording any sound. The mic I am using is working fine with FaceTime, Zoom, and PhotoBooth, but is not working with iMovie. It was working fine before the latest upgrade of both operating system (macOS Catalina version 10.15.4) and iMovie (10.1.14). The sound is working fine with my old projects, but I can't record with sound anymore.

iMovie Audio When I'm making my iMovie, the audio is pretty loud and is exactly how loud I need it to be, but when I export the file into my mac, the audio is very quiet. Does anyone know how to fix this?

imovie audio When I connect to iMac via firewire/thunderbolt a DV camera Canon mv500i, I get video only, no audio, while using other softwares, I get both. Any suggestion?
